When (not) to Trust your Exposure Indicator

I hate editing pictures. Either I don't have time for it or just too lazy to do it. The latter seems to suit me best. I always set the camera to center weighted metering. Well... not always just recently after reading the manual. I never bothered with it before coz I didn't know what it does. I had three digital camera before, I think all of them had this feature. But no. Never bothered. I guess the reason being.. it was pointless. The was flash always on when indoor and off when outdoor or dark. 

The Exposure indicator is an alien thing to me.I don't trust it so I adjusted all settings available to me accordingly so that it 1 step overexposed. It turned out all pictures taken yesterday was overexposed. Thats fine because it is easier to make a picture darker than brighter in post editing as long as you don't have to adjust it too much.
